This 1995 chestnut stallion is 14.3 hands and weighs
1200 pounds. In
2002 he won the United States Calf Roping National Finals in
Stephenville, TX. As any good horse breeder knows - a winning
performance horse is no accident. It is acquired through years of
careful planning, study, hard work, experience and patience
This foundation bred stallion
carries some of the greatest rodeo bloodlines in history. He is sired by
Wyoming Blanton who goes back to the
great Lucky
Blanton "The Rope Horse Sire". A top heading, heeling, steer
roping and calf roping horse,
Lucky Blanton
carried his owner Tom Mattart to the pay window not only 'out of the
box', where he was going to the pay window so often in team roping and
single steer roping that he became considered by many as the best rope
horse in California, but also in racing and while a stud.
Lucky Blanton
sired more top rope horses than any other Quarter Horse living at the
same time. At the prestigious Salina rodeo, a photo was taken of ten of
his thirteen get working the rodeo. All were about the same height and
conformation with top-named cowboys on their back. His get were
obviously in demand by professional ropers.
Lucky Blanton
became one of the foremost maternal grandsires of performance horses in
California. His daughters have shown great production abilities with
AQHA Champions, AAA race horses, Superior Halter horses and reined cow
horse champions to their credit. The
Lucky Blantons
were also known for their versatility, as a lot of the colts were raced
and roped on at the same rodeo. It is no wonder
Lucky Blanton
daughters were the pride of many well known breeding programs, such as
Spencer Childers, Perry Cotton, the Sessions Ranch and Rancho Jabali.
It has been said of
Lucky Blanton
how extremely good and quiet his disposition was and how gentle he was.
In addition, Phyllis Mattart said how hard he stopped and ran...how
powerful his forearm and hip muscling was, but when you stood next to
Lucky, you were aware of a plus quality that makes a great horse.
Perhaps, it's intelligence combined with ability. It's hard to know and
impossible to define. But one thing is sure, he has passed these
qualities on to his decendents as seen in Skoal Bandit Blanton.
This stallion's dam goes back
to two of the greatest and most influencial Quarter Horse Stallions in
the history of the breed. The first one is Leo, who is one of the
greatest broodmare sires in the breed. Leo put lightening speed
in the majority of his offspring. His sons and daughters not only
excelled on the racetrack, but in halter and cutting. He was recognized
as a leading sire of arena horses. Cam Dale Siding also goes back
to the great Sugar Bars, who sired speedy, well put together,
athletic horses who are extremely versatile and could reproduce their
type and versatility.
Our horses are range raised.
They are selected on performance in our Wyoming climate, with feet,
